<p>The invention relates to a driving shield with a fluid-supported face breast, the front working space (10) of the shield (1), the said working space (10) receiving a cutting head (12) or the like, being partitioned off from the shield rear side by a transverse wall (7, 8), and the working space (4) containing supporting fluid (23) which is under the pretension of a compressed-air cushion present in a compressed-air chamber (20) which is in communicating connection with the working space. According to the invention, the compressed-air chamber (20) is designed in the form of a ring or ring segment, in such a way that it extends over the inner circumference of the shield, specifically expediently around the cutting head (12) in front of the transverse wall (7, 8). A space-saving overall arrangement is obtained in this way. If the inner space of the shield cutting edge (3) is utilized for the compressed-air chamber (20), the latter takes up virtually no space. <IMAGE></p> |
