PURPOSE:To decrease memory capacity and speedify elongation by detecting a block identification information from a compressed data, taking out respective compressed line data corresponding to information from a compressed data memory by means of address then expanding the data. CONSTITUTION:When a compressed data is stored in the compressed data memory 1, all the block identification information in it is detected by a block detector 4, and a read address to read a compressed data block stored in the compressed data memory part 1 corresponding to the block identification information is stored in an address memory part 7. By an identification information from a designation means 8, this read address corresponding to information is read out from the part 7, and thus obtained read address corresponding to information compressed data blocks constituting compressed data parts desired to be expanded are sequentially supplied to an expander 3, and thus expanded data parts are stored in an expanded data memory part 2. In such a way, the expansion of a necessary compressed data part can be executed.
