PURPOSE:To reduce variance of the reflectance of a recording layer of org. coloring matter and to increase the reflectance by interposing an intermediate layer having a specified refractive index according to the refractive index of a plastic substrate between the substrate and the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer having a specified refractive index according to the refractive index of a plastic substrate is interposed between the substrate and a recording layer of org. coloring matter to obtain an optical recording medium. When the substrate has a high refractive index, the refractive index of the intermediate layer is made high. When the substrate has a low refractive index, the refractive index of the intermediate layer is made low. Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is used as the material of the intermediate layer in case of a PMMA substrate and silicon oxide (SiO2) is used in case of a polycarbonate substrate. Thus, variance of the reflectance of the recording layer by the transition of the substrate is reduced and the reflectance is increased. |
