PURPOSE:To reduce the additive quantities of expensive alloying elements such as Co, V, etc., and also to simplify the manufacturing process, by subjecting an alloy consisting of Fe and Ti, V, Co, etc., and Cu and B in specific ratios to rapid cooling by liquisol quenching. CONSTITUTION:An excellent semi-hard magnetic material combining high coercive force with high square ratio can be obtained by subjecting an alloy represented by a formula to rapid cooling by liquisol quenching. In the formula, Mb means that one or more elements among Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, and Ni as 3d transition metal elements are incorporated by (b)atom.%, Cuc means that Cu is incorporated by (c)atom.%, and Bd means that B is incorporated by (d) atom.%. Further, b=0-20, c=2-20, d=0.2-10, and a+b+c+d=100. Moreover, the above-mentioned rapidly solidified alloy can be modified by the application of a single heat treatment at 500-1,000 deg.C, and the semi-hard magnetic material having higher coercive force and square ratio can be obtained.
