PURPOSE:To reduce core losses and to improve the characteristics of the core, by providing an insulator in ribbons comprising amorphous alloy, forming the core by winding and laminating the ribbons in a cylindrical shape, specifying the thickness for every ribbon in the core, and specifying the percentage of the voids of the core. CONSTITUTION:Each ribbon 1 having a thickness tr comprises amorphous alloy. An insulator 2 having a thickness of ti is provided between the ribbons 1. The ribbons 1 are wound and laminated in a cylindrical shape, and a core is formed. The tr is made to be tr=5-50 mum, and the ti is made to be ti=2-20 mum. The percentage of the voids of the core is made to be 0.5 or less. Thus the interlayer insulation between the ribbons can be secured. It is desirable that the end part of the insulator 2 protrudes from the end part of the ribbon 1 by 0.2 mm or more in order to prevent the breakdown of the insulation at the end part of the core, which is yielded by an applied voltage. It is desirable to form the core when the ribbons are wound and laminated so that a smooth surface 1a is located at the outside in order to reduce the percentage of the voids.
