A cable entry for strain relief and sealing a housing cable entry consists of a tubular clamping screw which can be screwed to a threaded sleeve or into the housing wall, a sealing ring arranged in the threaded sleeve or the housing wall, as well as an annular clamping piece of plastic with a radially movable end part which, when the cable entry is screwed together, is pressed with a sliding surface against a countersliding surface of the clamping screw and is thus pressed radially together to form the cable clamping. In this cable entry, the annular clamping piece is constructed of two equal ball cup sections which in each case extend with their end points over an angular region of almost 180@ and are interconnected on these end points in a hinge-like manner by two thin webs. The outer surface of the ball cup sections forms the sliding surface which is symmetrical to the centre plane running through the ball centre perpendicular to the axis. As a result of this embodiment, the cable entry according to the invention is simpler and more cost-advantageous in terms of construction and assembly, compared to the prior art, has in contrast a larger clamping movement while requiring the same space and ensures a reliable sealing action of the sealing ring when the cable is concentrically guided.
