The present invention relates to a genetic engineering method for the preparation of human Mn superoxide dismutase (hMn-SOD), to the DNA sequences which code for this enzyme, to suitable vectors which contain these DNA sequences, and to host cells which are able to express these DNA sequences, as well as to the enzyme hMn-SOD itself. Proposed uses of this enzyme are also described.
