PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of the titled system by storing a compressing direction and an offset value indicating a compression starting position in overlay data, developing the data in a bit map memory on the basis of these values and printing out the data. CONSTITUTION:The printer control system is constituted of a disk device 5 provided with overlap data 1 consisting of a compressing direction 1-1, a compression starting position offset value 1-2 and compression data 1-3, a host computer 6 and a laser printer 4 provided with the bit map memory 2 and a control part 3. A user forms the overlay data 1 by using a utility program in the host computer 6. At the time of the formation, the compressing direction and the offset value of an image are applied to compression data. In case of printing out the overlay data 1, the host computer 6 reads out the data 1 from the disk device 5 and prints out the data 1 on the basis of the offset value or the like.
