PURPOSE:To prevent an ink layer and an intermediate adhesive layer from being delaminated at the time of thermal transfer recording under high energy, by using an organic film having a surface roughened by internally adding a fine powder to a sheet base, in a thermal transfer ink sheet capable of recording gradations. CONSTITUTION:A sheet base 1 is a polyethylene terephthalate film with a fine powder of an acrylic resin internally added thereto, and has a surface roughness in terms of center line average roughness of 0.2-0.3 mum, while the surface of the PETP film without the internal addition has a favorable smoothness of a surface roughness of Ra = 0.1 mum. An intermediate adhesive layer 2 of a polyester resin is provided on the sheet base 1 in a thickness of 3 mum, and an ink layer 3 comprising a filler 3a and an ink component 3b is provided thereon. In a thermal transfer ink sheet thus produced, the ink layer can be prevented from being released from the sheet base even at the time of high- density recording under the application of high thermal energy. |
