PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material high in transparency of a thermal printing part, by dissolving a colorless or light-colored basic dye precursor and a color developer in an organic solvent difficultly soluble in water or insoluble in water, emulsifying and dispersing the solution to obtain an emulsified dispersion, and applying a coating liquid comprising the dispersion and a decoloring agent to a base, followed by drying. CONSTITUTION:A basic dye precursor and a color developer are dissolved in an organic solvent difficultly soluble in water or insoluble in water, the resultant solution is mixed with an aqueous phase comprising a surface active agent and having a water-soluble high molecular weight compound as a protective colloid, and the resultant mixture is used in the form of an emulsified dispersion, The color developer is applied in an amount of 0.05-8 g/m<2>, while the dye precursor is applied in an amount of 0.02-4 g/m<2>. A decoloring agent is a substance having a decoloring effect on a color forming system comprising the basic dye and the color developer, and is contained in microcapsules, whereby decoloring is prevented from occurring at the time of producing a thermal recording material, and the raw preservability and record preservability of the thermal recording material can be enhanced. |
