摘要 PURPOSE:To enable oscillation over a wide range of wavelengths, by making an optical fiber serving as a laser medium be composed by connecting or butting one or more optical fibers, in which P and Nd are added and the numbers of P and Nd atoms are different from each other, with an optical fiber in which only Nd is added. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber serving as a laser medium is composed by connecting or butting one or more of optical fibers 6, in which P and Nd are added and the numbers of P and Nd atoms are different from each other, with an optical fiber 5 in which only Nd is added. For example, excited beams 2 from a light source 1 for excitation are made incident to the optical fiber 5, in which only Nd atoms are added as laser active ions, through a coupling lens 3 and a reflector 4 on the incident side, and guided to the optical fiber 6, which is connected or butted with the optical fiber 5 and formed by fusing/ connecting one or more optical fibers in which Nd and P are added and the numbers of Nd and P atoms are different from each other, so that laser oscillation is performed in an optical resonator which is composed of the reflectors 4 and 8. Laser oscillation output beams 9 can be drawn from the reflector 8 which is disposed on the emission terminal side of the optical fiber 6.
