Hydrocarbons are recovered from underground deposits by introducing heated natural gas into the deposit at a temperature to render the hydrocarbons mobile. The injection is at a pressure and temperature sufficient to raise the temperature of the hydrocarbons above the dew point, and preferably above the minimum temperature that assures the hydrocarbons are vapourized. The heated natural gas is injected through an insulated well and heated gas and hydrocarbons are produced from further insulated wells. The heated gas produced is separated from the produced hydrocarbons and is recirculated into the deposit through the injection well. As the injected gas dilutes the hydrocarbons in the deposits the temperature of the injected gas is decreased. The process may be used for primary, secondary or tertiary recovery, and may be used after water flooding. |
