PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer sheet capable of transferring under low energy and capable of giving transferred characters or figures which are clear and resistant to abrasion, by using a heat-fusible ink comprising a pigment or dye, a wax, a heat-fusible resin having a specified minimum film forming temperature, speified hydroxyl groups and a specified low melting point compound. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible ink layer 14 is provided on one side of a sheet base 12. The ink layer 14 is provided by using a material comprising carbon black as a pigment dispersed in water by use of a dispersant, and mixing carnauba wax, an aliphatic petroleum resin and a styrene-acrylic copolymer resin as a heat-fusible resin in an emulsified state having a minimum film forming temperature of at least 40 deg.C. Further, polyethylene glycol as a low melting point compound is added to the heat-fusible ink. The melting point of the ink is lowered, and the emulsified heat fusible resin is made to form a film by thermal energy at the time of transfer, whereby abrasion resistance of transferred characters or figures is enhanced. |
