A slitter for steel strips comprises two mutually co-operating arbors which have mutually co-operating disc shaped cutters and intervening spacers. At each arbor end there is disposed a hydraulic piston (19) for axial displacement of means (16, 17, 18) within the arbor end which means are adapted, at their axial displacement, to displace a ring (14) on the arbor end, so as to clamp cutters and spacers between the said ring (14) and a stationary ring at the other end of the arbor. |
