PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL FIBER COIL

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compact optical fiber coil having a low transmission loss and useful for the sensor for a gyro and measuring instruments, by coiling a coated optical fiber on a reel in multiple layers, and heat-treating the coil. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 2 coated with a thermoplastic resin, etc., is coiled on the barrel of the reel 1 in multiple layers to obtain the optical fiber coil. The coil is then heat-treated at a temp. lower than the glass transition point of the coating material of the optical fiber 2 to produce the optical fiber coil.
