PRODUCTION OF GLASS FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce glass fiber little in residual carbon and excellent in strength, by spinning the viscous soln. obtained by hydrolyzing and polymerizing a soln. contg. specified organic metallic compd., replacing residual alkoxyl group with hydroxyl group and thereafter calcining it. CONSTITUTION:Fibrous gel is obtained by spinning the viscous soln. obtained by slowly hydrolyzing and polymerizing a soln. contg. organic metallic compd. shown in a formula M(OR)n [M is metal, R is alkyl and (n) is integer]. Then this gel is brought into contact with an aq. soln. contg. acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid) of <=7 pH or gas contg. >=40vol.% water content and residual alkoxyl group is replaced with hydroxyl group and thereafter the gel is dried and calcined.
