<p>A method for teaching persons how to hold writing instruments (12) properly is disclosed along with a writing aid (10) for facilitating the method of teaching. The first step of the method is to provide a device (10) for aiding in the gripping of the writing instrument (12). The device (10) includes a body (30) having a central bore (32) for grippingly receiving the writing instrument (12), and an exterior surface. The exterior surface includes a first gripping surface (40) positioned for receiving the user's first finger (18), a second gripping surface (42) positioned for receiving the user's second finger (20), and a third gripping surface (44) positioned for receiving the user's third finger (22). A second step in the process is to provide a surface indicia (68, 70 or 72) on at least one of the first (40), second (42), and third (44) gripping surfaces. The third step of the process is to instruct the user to place the proper one of his fingers on the surface bearing the indicia.</p> |
