PURPOSE:To miniaturize and lighten a solid-state image pickup device by constituting a color filter of two color filters of a yellow light transmission filter and a cyan light transmission filter, and using a sample holding circuit for separating a color signal. CONSTITUTION:An all color light transmission filter 27, a green light transmission filter 28, a cyan light transmission filter 30, and a yellow light transmission filter 29 are used for a color filter. Accordingly, at the time of manufacturing the color filter, it can be constituted of two colors of the cyan and yellow light transmission filters. Also, in a signal processing circuit, an output signal of a solid-state image pickup element 1 is sampled and hold at every other different picture element by two pieces of sample and hold circuits 4, 5, and by subtracting these two sample and hold output signals, a line sequential color signal is obtained. Also, two color signals are formed by synchronizing the line sequential color signal by a synchronizing circuit, and thereafter, a color signal and a luminance signal are brought to gemma correction, respectively. In such a way, the reproducibility of the color signal is improved and a solid- state image pickup device can be miniaturized and lightened.
