[Also in Division E2] A valve closure 5 is supported by an assembly 4 which is longitudinally displaced within a bearing member 2 to effect closure by means of threaded engagement 8, 7 with a screw member 1 retained within housing member 2, in abutment with a shoulder 10 thereof, by a spacing element 18 provided with axially directed projections 19 and 20 between which engage lugs 14 of six aligned axially extending housing member projections 12 which are uniformly circumferentially spaced whereby screw member 1 is locked against axial displacement by a locking ring 22 which rests upon projections 20 and the axially extending dogs 24 whereof engage between projections 12, 20 and may extend between projections 19; relative axial movement of looking ring 22 with respect to screw member 1 being prevented by a circlip in a screw member groove (not shown) or by the abutment of flange 25 with the underside of handle 26 which is secured to screw member 1 by spring tongues 32 being forced into engagement under a bead 39 by means of a chamfered stud 35 which is urged outwardly by spring 38. An auxiliary closure 6 closes the tap to interrupt the water supply when the tap is dismantled for repair and is normally held out of seating contact. |
