A process wherein the highly disperse metal oxide is reacted with organopolysiloxane which, in addition to terminal silicon-bonded hydroxyl and/or alkoxy groups, contains diorganosiloxane units in which the two organic radicals are monovalent hydrocarbons, and siloxane units containing organic radicals which contain positively charged nitrogen and are bonded to silicon via carbon.
