PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively produce a dark mirror requiring no metallic film layer by constructing the mirror with a transparent plate comprising a rigid material, and a dark colored layer formed by coating a black, violet, or other dark color material on the rear surface of the transparent plate by screen printing or painting, etc. CONSTITUTION:After removing oils, contamination, etc. the rear surface of a flat glass 1 having sufficient smoothness and reflection efficiency with a detergent soln. etc., the glass 1 is dried at high temp. in a short time. Then, a dark colored (black or violet, etc.) synthetic resin ink or paint inhibiting transmission of light or image is coated on the rear surface of the transparent plate 1 by screen printing or painting, etc., and a dark colored layer 2 is fixed by drying and setting the coated material. Further, a completed product (a) of a dark mirror is obtd. by heating the product at an appropriate temp. in order to increase the adhesive strength of the dark colored layer 2 and to remove impurities. By this process, a dark mirror requiring no metallic film reflection layer is obtd.
