PURPOSE:To simplify the processing of a conjugate word and to improve processing speed by dividing the inflection of the conjugate word into an affirmative form including an auxiliary verb including an intention and an unaffirmative form clearly succeeding to other word and immediately extracting a form name as meaningful information at the time of the affirmative form. CONSTITUTION:A part which is not changed of the conjugated word is defined to be a word stem to eliminate the conjugate word having no word stem and the conjugate inflection succeeding to this word stem is divided into the affirmative form including the auxiliary verb indicating the intention and the unaffirmative form succeeding to other word. Then, a conjugate word dictionary 15 in which these word stems, the conjugate inflection and the conjugate form name of the conjugate inflection and a conjugated word processing part 14 for referring to the conjugated word dictionary 15 from an inputted character string and obtaining the word stem, its conjugate inflection and the conjugated form name are provided. Accordingly, it is not required to decide the presence and the absence of the inflection and execute a different processing according to the decision result but at the time of deciding the conjugate inflection, the meaningful form name can be simultaneously obtained. Thereby, the processing of the conjugate word can be simplified at high speed.
