发明名称 AROMATIC POLYESTER
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a relatively low cost aromatic polyester excellent in melt moldability, flame retardancy and heat resistance, by reacting a phosphorus- containing aromatic diol (or its esterifiable derivative) with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (or its esterifiable derivative). CONSTITUTION:Phosphinic acid is reacted with a quinone in a solvent such as xylene to obtain a phosphorus-containing diol (A) of formula I (wherein Ar<1> is a trivalent aromatic group and R is an alkylene group having 3 or 4 carbons that form the ring). Equimolar amounts of component A and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (B) of formula II (wherein Ar<2> is a bivalent aromatic group) and at least one equivalent, per equivalent of the hydroxyl groups, of a lower aliphatic anhydride (C) (e.g., acetic anhydride) are subjected to acid exchange or trans-esterification in the presence of 0.1X10<-4>-100X10<-4>mol. of a polymerization catalyst (e.g., dibutyltin maleate), per mol. of the structural units of the polyester, at about 150 deg.C and normal pressure for about 2hr, and the product is polycondensed at 260-330 deg.C in a vacuum <=1Torr to obtain an aromatic polyester mainly consisting of structural units of formula III and having an intrinsic viscosity >=0.5.
