PURPOSE:To permit sure recovery of magnetic particles into a developing container and to prevent leakage of the magnetic particles from the developing container by specifying the angle between a control means and cut magnetic pole and the angle between the cut magnetic pole and conveying pole. CONSTITUTION:This device has the cut magnetic pole which is one magnetic pole of a magnetic field generating means provided on the upper stream of the control member with respect to the rotating direction of a developer carrying member and the conveying magnetic pole provided on the down stream of the control means. The angle theta3 between the control means and the cut magnetic pole and the angle theta4 between the cut magnetic pole and the conveying pole are theta4<120 deg., 0<theta3<35 deg., 2theta3<theta4. The satisfactory recovery and leakage prevention of the magnetic particles are thereby attained even if the magnetic field intensity of the magnetic field generating means acting on the surface of a magnetic member 31 changes slightly.
