PURPOSE:To reduce operating time of the titled stopper and prevent trouble such as overheating from occurring, by a method wherein engagement of a wedge to a gear for a type drum is once released after stopping the rotation of the drum, and the wedge is reengaged after movement of the drum in the axial direction is stopped. CONSTITUTION:Immediately before a type drum 1 is stopped by a magnetic stopping action of the first motor M1, a drum stopper 6 is driven through the detection of the stopping position by a rotary encoder, whereby the wedge 5 is engaged to the gear 4 to rapidly stop the drum 1 in a forcible manner. The drum stopper 6 stops the rotation of the drum 1 by an excited condition thereof, and after a predetermined lapse of time, it is once set into a non-excited condition to release the wedge 5 from the gear 4, and is again excited simultaneously when a stand-by signal is inputted. Namely, by providing an appropriate non- excited condition between the first excited condition and the second excited condition, overheating of the stopper 6 is prevented as much as possible. |
