PURPOSE:To maintain a good interface between a magnetic head and magnetic recording medium by providing a means for injecting gas in the direction where the head faces the magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:An injection port 6 is formed near a gap 4 for electromagnetic conversion where the head faces the magnetic recording medium. The gas is injected from the injection port 6 to the magnetic recording medium to reduce the contact pressure of the magnetic recording medium with the magnetic head to a min. required level at the time of running the magnetic recording medium with respect to the magnetic head and executing recording and reproducing. The wear of the magnetic head is thereby suppressed and the removal of dust, foreign matter, etc., is permitted. The high speed interface for the purpose of high-frequency recording or the interface of the thin magnetic metallic film magnetic recording medium for the purpose of short wavelength recording is satisfactorily maintained. |
