PURPOSE:To attain a static convergence correction automatically while a video is displayed on a screen by detecting the misalignment with high accuracy through the control of a position of a detector and using the detection signal so as to control a convergence circuit. CONSTITUTION:A detector 30 applies photoelectric conversion to a green and a red pattern signals, supplies the photoelectric conversion voltage to a position control circuit 31 to control the position of the detector 30 in a way of obtaining the maximum position of the pattern signal of each color. The position signal of each color from the circuit 31 is stored in a storage circuit 32 and an output from the circuit 32 is supplied to a comparator 33, where the output is compared with the position data of the green and the red pattern signals being reference data. The comparison output is fed to a red vertical direction static convergence correction circuit 34 to control the static deviation, thereby applying static convergence correction automatically.
