PURPOSE:To easily decorate characters of printed matter by providing a digital copying device with a means which executes a halftone photograph and beveling for an image part in a specified area. CONSTITUTION:A designation system for an area reads a sheet where the area is entered prior to an original and stores the contents of the area in a memory incorporated in an area recognition part 11 to read the contents of the memory in order when the original is reas. A halftone photography pattern generation part 12 generates a mesh pattern for executing the halftone photography an image and outputs it to an image editing part 8. The image editing part 8 receives a contour detection signal, an area recognition signal, and a halftone photography pattern signal and outputs the image which is executed the halftone photography and leveling, of the image in the area with a control signal from a system control part 14.
