PURPOSE:To separate a solvent having large sp.gr. without being influenced by the concentration of a slurry or particle size distribution of the slurry particle, by using a liq.-liq. cyclone provided with a baffle plate at the center in a feed chamber below an over-flow nozzle. CONSTITUTION:When the solvent having large sp.gr. is separated from the suspension liq. consisting of two solvents, which have different sp.gr. and are not mixed together with, and a solid matter having a sp.gr. between the sp.gr. of these two solvents, the liq.-liq. cyclone A, which is provided with the baffle plate 4 at the center in the feed chamber 3 below the over-flow nozzle 2, is used. Then, an interface between the solvent slurry (e.g. polypropylene suspended in peptan, etc.) having small sp.gr. and the solvent having large sp.gr. (e.g. water) is formed in a cone-shaped section 5 below the baffle plate 4. Thus, the solvent having large sp.gr. is separated without being influenced by the concentration of the slurry or the particle size distribution of the slurry particle. Thereby, the efficiency of separation of solvent in the next stage, for instance, in the decanter, is increased.
