PURPOSE:To permit the outside diameter of an excitation device to be minimized and to allow a superspeed machine to be of large capacity, by providing an excitation device mounting section to the shaft end on the counter machine side. CONSTITUTION:The power generated by an AC generator 13 is rectified with a rotating rectifier 15 and fed as DC power to the field windings of each rotor 6 and 11 for synchronous machines 1 and 2 through a central hole conductor 16. On this account, the mounting of an excitation device exclusively used for the synchronous machine 1 to the shaft between synchronous machines 1 and 2 is no more required, so that the field current can be supplied only by mounting the excitation device used for both synchronous machines 1 and 2 to the shaft end on the counter machine side.
