PURPOSE:To facilitate a retrieval of a special record, and to improve a processing speed by providing a channel command for not only transferring a regular print data but also transferring the special record. CONSTITUTION:By a printing program of a host computer 1, a special record is transferred to a printer controller 3 before transferring a print data, and thereafter, the print data is transferred. On the other hand, when a channel commands is sent to an interface board 4 from the computer 1, the controller 3 analyses the channel command by a command analyzing part 7, decides whether it is a print data transfer or a transfer of a special data, and reads its data into a memory 9. A printer control part 6 processes the print data, when it is sent from the computer 1, based on the special record which a CPU 8 has read into the memory 9.
