PURPOSE:To permit automatic detection of a photographing reduction rate of a film by photographing reference marks having regularity to the background part of an original to be photographed on the film, reading the marks at the time of reading the film and detecting the reduction rate at the time of photographing from the intervals at which the marks appear. CONSTITUTION:An image recording means (a) which records the marks having the prescribed regular intervals simultaneously at the same magnification to the peripheral region of an original image recording region F1 on an image information recording medium F such as film at the time of recording the original image P on the medium F and an image reading means (b) which reads the marks M recorded on the image information recording medium F by photoelectric conversion are provided. A measuring means (c) which measures the intervals of the marks M read by the image reading means (b) and a magnification detecting means (d) which detects the magnification of the original image recorded on the image information recording medium F from the measured value measured by the measuring means (c) and the predetermined original size of the intervals of the marks M are provided. The automatic detection of the photographing reduction rate of the film is thereby permitted.
