PURPOSE:To prevent a card from breaking and deforming by providing a moving body which is movable in a card insertion direction, a moving body locking means, and a card rear end locking means, and preventing an unnecessary force from operating on the card base. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 4 moves inward by the insertion of the IC card K and when it comes close to a contact making position, the card K is set at its read/write position by the elastic deformation of an elastic arm 23 through the rotation of the shaft 17c of a pressing member 17. At this time, a lever 11 locks a slider 9 and a slider 13 is unlocked to move toward an insertion opening 2. Consequently, a lock claw 15 rotates a hook part 15a downward around a shaft 16 to lock the rear end of the card K, and a sensor 19 writes or reads the card. When a solenoid 12 is energized at the end of the writing/ reading operation, a projection 11c of the lever 11 and a slider 9b are disengaged from each other and a projection 11e moves a slider 13 inward. AT the same time, the claw 15 unlocks the card rear end and the carriage 4 moves to the insertion opening 2 while the card is put on.
