<p>PURPOSE:To provide a recording liquid which can be stably preserved over a long period of time, hardly causes clogging of fine discharge orifices and capillaries and can give a printed image having excellent resistance to water and light with a high density and a clear tone, containing a specified naphthyl azo dye. CONSTITUTION:A recording liquid consisting of a recording agent serving as a component forming a printed image and a liquid medium for dissolving or dispersing the recording agent, wherein the recording agent comprises at least one dye of formula I (wherein Q<1>, Q<3> are each a substd. phenyl or substd. naphthyl group having at least one SO3M residue; Q<2> is a substd. naphthylene group having at least one SO3M residue; M is a base selected from Na, K, Li, ammonium and amine) such as a dye of formula II or III. The recording liquid has physical properties (viscosity, surface tension, electrical conductivity, etc.) matching discharge conditions, can be stably preserved over a long period of time and does not cause clogging of fine discharge orifices. The liquid can be rapidly fixed to a material to be recorded, hardly runs on recording materials and can give a printed image having excellent resistance to water and light with a high density and a clear tone.</p> |
