PURPOSE:To improve resolution, to reduce the occurrences of moire, and to improve the using efficiency of light and the sensitivity by arranging color filters corresponding to photodetectors in a mosaic pattern so that the color filters are arranged at every four picture elements in both horizontal and vertical directions. CONSTITUTION:The color filters corresponding to the photodetectors are arranged in a mosaic pattern so that color filters are arranged separatedly at every four picture elements in both horizontal and vertical directions. All color transparent filters(W) are used as a first color filter, color filters for which light passage only through a specified spectral band are used as a second color filter, and complementary color filters allowing components transmitted by the second color filter to be transmitted and having transmissive components different with each other are used as a third and a forth color filters. The second filter is preferably either of a red-color transmis sive filter(R), green-color transmissive filter(G), or blue-color transmissive filter(B), and to the third and the fourth color filters, yellow-color transmissive filter(Ye), cyan- color transmissive filter(Cy), magenta-color transmissive filter(Mg) are used. As a result, the resolution, the using efficiency of light, and the sensitivity can be improved, and the occurrence of moire can be reduced.
