PURPOSE:To facilitate a facsimile transmission operation by detecting a ring back tone, and automatically switching the connection of a telephone line from a telephone terminal to a facsimile part in the case of detecting that a transmis sion original is set. CONSTITUTION:A line 1 controller 20 is comprised of an incoming call detection circuit 21, a ring back tone detection circuit 22, an exchange circuit 23, and a microcomputer 24. The reader part 36 of a facsimile part 30 reads a transmis sion original and detects that said original is set in a non-telephone terminal. The computer 24 switches the connection of a telephone line 50 from telephone terminals 41-43 to the facsimile part 30 in case a ring back tone as well as the setting of a transmission original is detected. As a result, at the telephone terminals, after dialing the telephone number, there is no need for operating other keys, and the facsimile transmission operation can be easily achieved.
