FLUORESCENT CHARACTER DISPLAY TUBE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a fluorescent character display tube having no exhaust tube by holding the terminal section of cathode between a planar board and sideboard frame member while holding anode leads between the sideboard frame member and anode substrate and fixing with glass sealing member thereby preventing production of decomposition gas when sealing while preventing air leakage. CONSTITUTION:Anode lead 2a for 7 segment display and wiring conductor 2b are connected to external terminal section 2d of anode substrate 1. Crystal glass sealing member R is applied on the sideboard frame member 6 and planar board 4 then an electrode frame 7 is held between them and burnt under atmosphere to produce crystalized glass. Then the anode substrate 1 and the sideboard frame member 6 integral with the planar board 4 while incorporating with cathode 8 are thermally sealed in vacuum while pressurizing from above and below to construct an outer casing thus to complete a fluorescent character display tube having no exhaust tube observable from the planar board side 4. Since it is burnt in vacuum after evacuating decomposition gas completely, gas is never produced after sealing while since the wiring lead 2b is formed with thin film, contact-tight performance is improved to leak no air.
