PURPOSE:To improve the safety and reliability of data communication system by applying a power supply of a terminal equipment automatically only when a telephone call for a prescribed number of times come in a short time within a prescribed time only. CONSTITUTION:A CI signal of a MODEM 1 connected to a terminal equipment 2 is detected by a power supply controller 17 and when IC signals for a set number of times within a prescribed time is detected, the power supply of the terminal equipment 2 is applied and a concentration/distribution program set in the terminal equipment 2 in advance is started automatically to apply transmission/reception processing of the data with a host. When the distribution/ concentration processing of the data is finished, the terminal equipment 2 turns off a transmission/reception enable signal (ER signal) and the power supply controller 17 detects the signal to cut off the power supply of the terminal equipment 2. Thus, the malfunction of the terminal equipment due to a wrong dial is prevented, and not only the power saving and enhanced reliability but also the entire reliability and safety of the data communication system is enhanced.
