PURPOSE:To improve the charging efficiency of an engine by diagonally arranging plural intake ports to generate a strong swirl, and forming plural intake manifolds within a cylinder head to make intake air flow into a cylinder at a large angle from a high position. CONSTITUTION:An intake port (helical port) 26 and an exhaust port 28 are arranged on one side of an engine, and an intake port (tangential port) 27 and an exhaust port 29 on the other side of the engine. Swirls 30, 31 generated through the intake ports 26, 27 are therefore mutually promoted. In addition to that, intake manifolds 32, 33 are formed within a cylinder head 34 to make intake air flow into a cylinder at a large angle from a high position. The exhaust ports 28, 29 are made independent of each other, and connected to exhaust manifolds 35, 36 respectively. Thus a strong swirl and high charging efficiency can be simultaneously secured to form an intake system having high intake potential.
