Device for cutting paper, cardboard, nylon or plastic wrappings. The invention relates to a device making it possible to cut wrappings with maximum safety. It consists of a handle integral with a casing 2 in which there is fixed a blade 3. It also consists of a pin 4 which, under the thrust of the cap 1 against the material to be cut, withdraws into the housing of the casing 2 and thus frees the blade 3 which is then operational. As soon as the cut is finished the cap 1 comes back over the blade under the action of the spring 5. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for opening wrappings (bag and the like). <IMAGE>
