The wood is treated by spraying and/or immersion for around 3 mins. with a 2% dispersion of alkylene, alkenylene, or arylene rhodanide, to which is added dispersants, stabilisers or surfactants, together with 0.5-0.2% strong acid soluble in the solvent used. Pref. 8-20% methylene bis-thiocyanate is used in the soln. as active ingredient.
