PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled polymer useful as a material for electrical and electrochemical fields, e.g. electrode and semiconductor, in high electrolytic efficiency, by subjecting naphthalenes, etc., to electrolytic oxidation polymerization in a solvent in the presence of a protonic acid etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be produced by the electric oxidation polymerization of naphthalenes (preferably naphthalene) or benzoquinones (preferably benzoquinone) in a solvent (preferably nitromethane, nitrobenzene or dichloromethane) in the presence of a protonic acid or a Lewis acid (preferably boron trifluoride, antimony pentachloride or aluminum chloride) preferably at 10-30 deg.C.
