The machine has a frame surrounding is the table which supports the p.c.b. gripped by side clamps. To one side of the table is a number of magazines. Within each magazine is a feed mechanism which presents the components in a 'sandwich' strip fed from a reel. Above the table is a carriage which can move from side-to-side on guide rails. Inside the carriage is a holder which can move forwards and backwards on other guide rails. The holder carries a vacuum needle which lifts, moves and inserts the components. The carriage and holder are positioned by stepper motors and toothed belts. The operation of the machine can be controlled from a control panel or remotely via external connections.
