Method for interrupting the drive activity, in particular rotary-drive activity, of a powered hand tool

A method for interrupting the rotary-drive activity of a hammer drill in the drive train to the tool (24) is proposed, in which a clutch (28), which is arranged in the drive train, is automatically disengaged as a function of an overload quantity. As overload quantity, a movement quantity of the hand-guided hammer drill in space is recorded and upon exceeding a preset value of this movement quantity the clutch (28) is automatically disengaged. The path and/or the speed and/or the acceleration of the hammer drill in space is/are recorded as movement quantity. This takes place via a rotation sensor (30) which causes the disengagement of the clutch mechanically directly or electromechanically indirectly via a control device. By pressing in an engaging actuator, the clutch can be re-engaged mechanically directly or electromechanically via a control device. The person working with the hammer drill in the hand is reliably protected from injury as a result of the apparatus being flung around in the event of blockage of the drill bit (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
