In the case of a negative high-performance grid for lead-acid accumulators, which has a uniform potential distribution and a low longitudinal resistance as a result of the geometry of the webs (5) and of the grid frame (3), the terminal tab (2) and those limbs of the frame which open into the terminal tab are provided with a copper coating (4). At least that entire half of the grid facing away from the terminal tab remains free from the copper coating. The deposition of the copper, which is produced electrochemically or non-electrically, is carried out individually on each of the two limbs by successive immersion in the treatment bath with the lead grid in the vertical position and in the side position. <IMAGE>
