Machine tool for the shearing of workpieces made from flat steel and from angle-section steel, with a moved cutter arrangement, with a stationary cutter arrangement and with a preceding workpiece holding-down device. The cutter arrangements have passage orifices provided with cutting edges and intended for the workpieces to be sheared, the passage orifices for the workpieces made from angle-section steel and to be sheared by straight cut being made V-shaped or inversely V-shaped and the passage orifices for the workpieces made from flat steel and to be sheared by straight cut being made as slots extending horizontally. The cutter arrangements each have a single cutter plate, to which a single holding-down plate is assigned. The passage orifices for the workpieces made from angle-section steel or from flat steel and to be sheared by straight cut, in the cutter plates, are arranged one under the other symmetrically relative to the vertical centre line. The passage orifices for the workpieces made from flat steel and to be sheared by straight cut, in the stationary cutter plate, have a vertical connection orifice at both outer ends. <IMAGE>
