Phase modulator

摘要

A phase modulator of compact construction for 0@ and 180@ phase shift keying of a radio-frequency signal consists of an input waveguide (1), an output waveguide (2) shortened at one end, and an intermediate waveguide (3) coupling these to one another. Via the intermediate waveguide (3), the radio-frequency signal fed into the input waveguide (1) is injected into the output waveguide (2) through an input opening (7) arranged in a side wall of the output waveguide (2) at lambda /4 distance from its short circuit wall (8). The intermediate waveguide (3) contains a separating plate (4) which divides the intermediate waveguide (3) into two parallel waveguide paths (5, 6) leading from the input waveguide (1) to the coupling opening (7) in the output waveguide (2), and these waveguide paths (5, 6) can be shorted by means of diodes (D1, D2) arranged therein or operated without load (Figure). <IMAGE>
