PURPOSE:To enable even an operator unfamiliar with key input operations to perform the effective input of Japanese word, by displaying the contents of KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) converted word and phrase on a display means in the form of a list. CONSTITUTION:The character codes are supplied to a Japanese word converting part 23 via an input interface part 24 with operation of key on a keyboard 1. The part 23 performs the KANA/KANJI conversion with reference to a Japanese word dictionary 25 and an idiom data base 26. These converted words and phrases are registered to a selection input memory part 27 and at the same time displayed on a display device 15. Thus, the KANA/KANJI converted words and phrases are displayed on the device 15 in the form of a list. As a result, even an operator unfamiliar with key input operations refers to said list for selection of words and phrases and can effectively perform the input of Japanese words.
