PURPOSE:To evaluate the performance of phenolic resin-coated paper contg. a volatile component in a short period by using a parallel plate plastometer method to evaluate the performance of the phenolic resin-coated paper. CONSTITUTION:The evaluation by the parallel plate plastometer method is executed by using an apparatus consisting of a displacement meter 1, an upper hot plate 5, a lower hot plate 6 and a ram 4 and deposing the phenolic resin- coated paper 2 which is a sample between release films 3. The temp. by the upper hot plate 5 and the lower hot plate 6 is set at 140-145 deg.C in order to prevent the early evaporation of the volatile component contained in the phenolic resin-coated paper 2. The pressure to be exerted to the phenolic resin-coated paper 2 is set at 80-100kg/cm<2>. The measurement time is set at 20-30sec or longer when the evaporation of the volatile component ends and the volatile matter is no longer radiated to the outside. The change in the thickness after this time is measured by the displacement meter 1.
