PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a strain in a joining part and to improve the workability of the joining by bending the edge of one plate to form the U-shaped edge and arranging a heat insulating material to the U-shaped edge and afterward, welding it to the stepped edge of the other plate. CONSTITUTION:In a lap part 3 of the plates 1 and 2, the edge of the plate 2 is bent in the U shape to form the bent edge 2a and the hard heat insulating material 6 to maintain an external plate shape is arranged to the inside of the edge 2a. Next, the stepped edge 1a of the stepped plate 1 is lapped on the bent edge 2a and the outside is made to one surface and afterward, a spot electrode 5 is abutted on the lap part 3 to perform the welding and joining. Since the heat generated at the time of welding the lap part 3 does not attain an outside surface forming part of the external plate by interposing the heat insulating material 6, the occurrence of the strain on the joining part at the time of welding is prevented. Since there is no interference between the electrode 5 and member, the workability of the joint is improved.
